Muhammadu Buhari speech on twitter ban on 1october 2021
on the suspension of Twitter operations, Twitter Inc. they reached out to the Government of Nigeria to resolve the issue. After that, I set up a Presidential Committee to join Twitter to explore the possibility of resolving the issue.
The Committee, along with its Technical Team, has worked with Twitter to address a number of key issues. These are:
a. Homeland Security and Cooperation;
b. Registration, physical presence and representation;
c. Proper Taxes;
d. Conflict Resolution; and
e. Local content.
Following intensive engagement, issues are addressed and I order that the suspension be lifted but only if conditions are met to allow our citizens to continue to use the good communication platform.
As a country, we are committed to ensuring that digital companies use their platform to improve the lives of our citizens, respect Nigerian sovereignty, cultural values ??and promote online security.
Nigeria's continued connectivity continues to be reflected in the growing numbers of Nigerians who are heavily placed in positions of regional and international influence. Recently, Nigeria won an election for the post of Commissioner for Extended Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union.
Our persistent calls for ECOWAS to be restructured and transformed, to make citizens more sensitive, paid for with the approval of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government to initiate the agreed changes to the organization ahead of the next principals' election in December this year.
In the African Development Bank, World Trade Organization and indeed, the United Nations, the steps of the Nigerian Diplomacy are clearly visible.
We remain confident that our goal of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years is achievable.
Considering the positive impact of our Social Investment programs, I recently approved an increase in the number of beneficiaries of the N-Power program from 500,000 to 1,000,000.
Despite this, 510,000 started the program while the competitive process of selecting 490,000 outstanding riders continues.
The National Home School Nutrition Program is currently being implemented in the 35 provinces of the Federation and FCT. More than 103,000 women have been included and empowered as cooks under the program, with an estimated 10 million students being fed in public primary schools across the country.
To provide increased credit access to the poorest and most vulnerable, I have directed an increase in the repayment of the Government Business and Empowerment loan program to an additional one million beneficiaries who focus more on emerging farmers through the Moni farmers program.
People of Nigeria,
For a long time we ignored the importance of public servants as the engine of governance and this was reflected in the poor service delivery.
There is widespread dissatisfaction and disappointment about the efficiency and effectiveness of our public service.
It is for this reason that we are also focusing on the Nigerian Civil Service to provide world-class services to manage our country.
The youth of this great country remain our modern state and provide assurances that we will have security tomorrow.
It is for this reason that I have always focused on increasing the opportunities for their political and political participation.
The appointment of young people to senior positions and their record so far, gives me hope that we need to bring most of them to management and this is what I promise to do.
Specifically, to promote girls 'education, women's education schemes, life skills and digital literacy skills to increase girls' enrollment, retention and graduation, all programs designed to ensure gender equality in placing our youth leadership positions properly.
Commitment to this The management of the well-being of people living with disabilities remains unchanged.
Government recognizes their contribution to development and, in this regard, I have directed that all spheres of government concerned pay close attention to the different aspects of the various capabilities in the implementation of policies and programs.
Gender-Based Violence and Violence is still a tragedy in our country as in many countries around the world and this was even worse during and after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic.
We are currently working with the heads of the courts to establish special courts for immediate and serious cases of rape / sexual offenses, especially to ensure that justice is done to children who are victims of sexual violence.
On the other hand, the work has progressed in the transformation, reunification and integration of minors involved in one crime or another.
The transformation of our Correctional Services has reflected the proliferation of modern child care centers and the transition from strict punishment to change of attitude so that criminals do not return to their former way of life.
As we begin to celebrate our 61st year as a Nation, we must realize that Nigeria does not start and end with a State Government. This country is a large group where the Government in all arms and standards and the private sector, and most importantly, the people, have a role to play.
Basically, safety is less than high performance. Putting hands and hearts together will enable us to protect ourselves and our country.
I am well aware of the concerns of many Nigerians about the country’s inability to surpass the endless power of being a great nation of an official in reality.
Much has been achieved in the last six years in many areas: infrastructure, social care, governance, the image of Nigeria and its impact on Africa and the international community.
But critics do not fully understand the growing development as a standstill. Since its inception, this Administration has faced our problems directly despite the limited resources available. No government since 1999 has done what we have done in six years to get Nigeria back on track.
We will continue to serve the country: listen to all and defend democracy and our country.
Thank you all and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
